I think I tasted the decline of LJ today. Been coming here for 10+ years and have always loved their distinctive pizza. The flavorful crust, the sweet sauce - it was always delicious. But today everything tasted watered down, cheapened. I fear they’ve cut too many corners trying to squeeze profits over product. I hope I’m wrong and today was just an off day, but I’ve seen this movie before…

Apparently online I was looking at a menu from 7 years ago so Layla Jones wasn’t as cheap as I thought it would be. They also had some lunch specials on a board with the price erased so the transparency is not incredible here. Even so $13.50 for a generous sized meatball sandwich, salad, and drink is a pretty good value. The sandwich was tasty, arguably even better reheated in the air fryer.

Most underrated pizza shop in NYC! As a native NYer, this might be my favorite pizza joint—best bread and sauce combo out there

Down in Cobble Hill Brooklyn sits Layla Jones pizzeria. The Plain Jane is the way to go. Heck try a margarita slice too. Nice and thin, perfectly prepared sauce and good amount of mozzarella. You will not be disappointed at all.

I want to give a 5 star SO badly because of how delicious this pizza is in person, but it significantly disappoints for takeout and I’ve tried twice now. The crust is so phenomenal in person, which is what made the pizza delicious, but during takeout somehow the box gets very steamy and the crust is always very soggy and is barely saved by reheating in the oven.
