About us
Brooklyn Local is an independent guide to the borough
We list the shops, kitchens, studios, trades and services that make Brooklyn what it is — organized by neighborhood and category, and free for any local business to join.
What Brooklyn Local is
Brooklyn Local is a Brooklyn business directory covering every neighborhood in the borough, from Williamsburg and Greenpoint to Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Cobble Hill and Flatbush. Each listing gathers the practical details people actually search for — address, phone, opening hours, photos, ratings and reviews — on one page, so you can decide where to go without hopping between five tabs.
Why we built it
Small Brooklyn businesses are easy to miss online. National platforms bury them under chains and ads, and plenty of great places have no website at all. Brooklyn Local exists to give those businesses a page of their own and to give neighbors a straightforward way to find them.
How listings work
Listings come from two places: businesses that add themselves, and public business profile data we collect and check for neighborhoods across Brooklyn. Any owner can claim their listing for free, correct the details, add photos and video, publish offers and reply to reviews. Reviews left on Brooklyn Local are moderated before they appear, and Google ratings are shown alongside them so the numbers match what you'd see elsewhere.
Independent, and staying that way
We're not owned by a chain, a landlord or a national listings network. Premium plans from business owners pay for the site; nobody can buy a better rating or a better review.
