I've practiced yoga for over 15 years, and Heatwise is one I can't recommend — especially if you're an experienced yogi. The problem here is management. Owner Samantha Scupps and manager Laetitia Laurin seem to have no grasp of customer retention. When a longtime practitioner walks in ready to commit, a good studio finds a way to keep them. Instead I was met with an inflexible, short-sighted attitude that was anything but professional — the kind of thing that turns a potential regular into a one-time visitor. The space itself is as cramped as every other packed NYC studio, so nothing sets it apart there. And wipe down your blocks and mat before you use them: the sanitation I witnessed was poor. If you want hot yoga in the city, there are better options. Hot 8 has stronger management and genuinely great instructors, and Y7 is in the same tier. Start there instead. Bottom line: not a studio for the serious practitioner. Owners response below is hysterical! Entitled are the Karens running the studio: the one who doesn’t recognize long term problems. $39 reversal vs $1200 long term membership and you call it bending the ‘rules’. Lol! Do the math! You seem to underestimate those who set foot in your studio. Good luck running your business.

What I love: the classes, the instructors, the cleanliness and those heavenly scented, cool towels at the end of each class. What's less enjoyable is the crowded locker area and practice room. If the class is full (typically), it's impossible to fully extend your body, or so some basic moves without smacking your neighbors. The locker area is tiny, but also poorly laid out making it incredibly ineffectient when students are trying to access their things and get dressed while others park themselves and chat, look at their phones, etc. It's a stressful and punishing enough experience that I can't not acknowledge it in my review. But the classes are just too good to pass so here's hoping there's either a redesign or they're able to acquire more space.

Found Heatwise three years ago and never looked back! Longtime hot yoga practitioner here, I was commuting into the city from Brooklyn and was so relieved when I found the seventh avenue studio. Everyone wko works the desk is a literal bundle of joy (Kristen, Steph, Janette, Abby--ILY) and the teachers are, almost without exception, all excellent. There's a real focus, threaded throughout all class types, on breath + yoga philosophy from most of the teachers, which is a lot to ask for in a high volume City studio known for power vinyasa... Anyway, great teachers, amazing member perks, lovely facilities...go here!!!

my hot yoga babes, the newbies this place is bomb. This was my second class ever and it was amazing. I was intimidated because I’m a plus size girly with zero experience with yoga but I was able to do everything. Elise was my teacher for both and she is great, she gives you alternative options if you’re unable or feel uncomfortable to do what she’s instructing which was nice especially as a newbie. The girls in front are the sweetest, the atmosphere is clean, cute and peaceful. I drive from NJ..it’s worth the drive 10/10 recommend 💗
