Brooklyn Free Space is an incredibly special place. In every class, with every combination of teachers and children, my kids have been earnestly loved, understood, and nurtured to thrive in and out of the classroom. They have always been eager to go to school and excited to share and apply what they’ve learned at home. My older daughter graduated BFS last year and it was amazing to watch her launch into kindergarten confident and prepared, both academically and socially. And despite branching out to different elementary schools, the friends we’ve made at BFS - kids and adults alike - have continued to be some of our dearest friends. We feel so fortunate to have found this school community.

Brooklyn Free Space is an exceptional school that I highly recommend to any family seeking a strong sense of community in the Park Slope area. Their emergent curriculum promotes learning through play, guided by the children’s own interests. The teachers are very kind, loving, and responsive to each individual’s needs. Our two kids have very different personalities and preferences, yet they both really enjoy going to school. Like many parents in this neighborhood, we moved here for the kid-friendly environment, and through BFS, we have found our support system as we navigate the challenges of raising kids in the city. Throughout the year, parents also have the chance to participate in activities such as farm excursions, stoop visits, and festive events, where grown-ups and children have the opportunity to build lasting memories and friendships.

Brooklyn Free Space has been such a gift to our family! Both of our kids have loved being part of this warm, creative community, and it was an amazing way for us to find friends when we moved to Park Slope. The school does a wonderful job of nurturing each child’s unique personality and interests, all while helping them build friendships and explore new ideas. We couldn’t be happier with our experience here and would absolutely recommend it to any family looking for a fun, supportive preschool with a fantastic community of parents!

Brooklyn Free Space is a warm environment that has inspired creativity and curiosity in both of my kids. I was super lucky a neighbor recommended the school, as I had no idea how to go about finding a good PreK. There are often 3 teachers in a class of 12 kids, so I know my kiddos are getting the support they need to develop relationships with friends, work through emotions, problem solve, and explore the world around them. Couldnt recommend BFS more highly to those seeking a nurturing, loving, age appropriate preschool environment (not to mention an amazing community of parents... truly, some of our best friends have come via the parent network here)
